Every car enthusiast is familiar with the Dodge Challenger Hellcat and its crazy 707 horsepower output in stock form, but Hennessey has turned it up to 11. Hennessey offers a few upgrade packages with tweaks ranging from mainly appearance and tuning upgrades on the HPE800 and HPE850 to the HPE1000 featuring a twin-turbo kit boosting power figures to 1,032 horsepower and 987 foot-pounds of torque at the flywheel.
The twin turbo kit used on the HPE1000 is designed to work in conjunction with the factory supercharger, making this not only a stout performer but giving it a truly intimidating underhood appearance. The turbo kit is made up of top quality components, including stainless steel headers and down pipes, billet compressor wheels and a high flow intake system. Naturally all that power requires more fuel, so they upgrade the fuel system as well.
Hennessey says the HPE1000 will do 0-60 in 2.7 seconds and run the quarter mile in a staggering 9.9 seconds at 142 miles per hour. Those interested in collectability will be glad to know that each car comes with numbered plaques signed by John Hennessey and the tech that completed your upgrades.
There are unconfirmed reports and rumors again that Dodge could be killing off the popular SRT Hemi's and Hellcat models soon and if you have seen the latest Dodge commercial on TV that has the Dodge brothers touring a new showroom and looking at their new cars doing burnouts and donuts they even say at the end "Get yours before they are history!"
So time could be running out on the Dodge Hemi's and Hellcats, and some sources suggest all HEMI's and SRT models will be gone from the Dodge lineup by 2019.
Some rumors are that the current plan is for both HEMI engines to end their run in 2019. Both the 6.4-liter and supercharged 6.2-liter units will be supplanted by twin-turbo four or twin-turbo six-cylinder engines, depending on the vehicle, which seems to be a current trend especially with Ford and GM adding smaller turbocharged engines to their vehicle lineups.
These unconfirmed reports also make sense because impending CAFE requirements will almost certainly make V-8 engines a rarity especially for automakers without big electric car credits to apply against them. Dodge will not have a lot of credits based on their current model lineup and due to the fact they have not embraced current hybrid or electric technology in their vehicle line ups recently to help their CAFE (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) credits .
If the Hellcats and HEMIs die after the 2018 model year, all the tire smoking Hemi's we've come to love and drive over the past few years will undoubtedly become collectors' items.
Hopefully Dodge will introduce a new "Limited Edition" model in 2019 with a V8 and pay a CAFE penalty - can you say "Baracuda"
Charity Raffle For 805 Horsepower Dodge Challenger
Last year, when Dodge announced the new Dodge Challenger Hellcat that pumped out 707 Horsepower, Mopar enthusiasts ordered everyone that the Fiat / Chrysler Auto group could produce in within hours of the order banks opening. So many enthusiasts wanted to order them, that a new production run was added to keep up with demand.
The Dodge Challenger Hellcat and Charger Hellcat twins have since proved to be wildly popular. So popular, in fact, that Dodge is more than doubling production to meet all the demand for 2016 models. But that still isn’t enough, so to get the jump on 2016 production, 2015 production is ending. Meaning if you ordered a 2015 car, you’re effectively not going to get it and you probably need to check to see if you have to place your order again.
Well there is another way to get a 2015 Challenger and this one makes a lot more ponies - how about 805 of them - and you could own this amazing car for only $3 if you get lucky!
