For starters here is the latest 2015 Mustang convertible tech. The new Mustang convertible drop top that will be released later this year was engineered from day one to be a convertible, whereas the previous Mustang convertibles were basically just a coupe with their tops chopped off and a few structural enhancements added after the fact to compensate for the loss of structural integrity. Well the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang convertible has been designed from the ground up as an open-top model with unique bodywork . In plain terms, what this means is that Ford engineers were able to make the 2015 Mustang Convertible stiffer (with 13 percent better torsional rigidity, for all you car geeks who might be wondering). This accomplishes two key things: smooths out the ride by enabling the car’s suspension system to do its job better, and gets rid of the obnoxious flexing in the chassis transmitted to the cabin when driving over rough surfaces. Now, couple the stiffer structure with the improved IRS suspension Ford added for 2015 and presto: The new Ford Mustang Convertible should be in another league, not only in terms of ride comfort, but also in driving dynamics, when compared to the outgoing model. Ford have also ditched the cheap vinyl top from the previous base Mustang Convertible and now all 2015 models will come with a high-end fabric top that is nicer even than the one available as an upgrade on the outgoing car. The new ragtop has an added layer of insulation, which Ford says helps keep the interior nearly as quiet as that of the 2015 Mustang Coupe. Ford engineers have replaced the hydraulic top mechanism with an electro-mechanical one that is quieter in operation. More importantly, it lowers and raises the roof in half the time it previously took. The system is also more compact, so the top can tuck further away for a cleaner look and more space in the trunk and rear seat. Ford have also swapped the two latches on either side of the windshield header with a single one in the middle for easier operation. We think with all these changes Fords one and only convertible will be a big seller world wide when it is realeased later this year to the global market place.

MCA 50th Birthday Celebration In Las Vegas
Shelby American has announced they plan to celebrate this year’s Vegas Bash at their new world headquarters in Las Vegas. The event, which is scheduled to kick off on Monday April 14th, will take place in the days prior to the Mustang Club of America’s Las Vegas Celebration, which kicks off on Thursday April 17th. Some highlights of this year’s Vegas bash include a Shelby Cruise from Palm Springs to Las Vegas, a Monday night “Cars Under the Stars” get together at Shelby’s new facility, a Poker Run, tours of the company’s new facility, and a Shelby GTS Mustang giveaway.
With the Shelby Vegas Bash leading right into the MCA 50th Birthday Celebration In Las Vegas, we’re expecting this year to be bigger and better than ever,” said Joe Conway, CEO of Shelby American. “This will be the first opportunity to host Shelby members and enthusiasts at our new world headquarters in the heart of Las Vegas. This year’s Vegas Bash and MCA 50th Celebration will be one for the record books.”
Enthusiasts who are already planning to attend the Mustang Club of America’s event can kick off their journey on Sunday April 13th by taking part in the 300-mile Shelby Run out of Palm Springs, ending in Las Vegas on April 14th. The road trip is being hosted by the Pacific Coast Team Shelby Region club. The Monday night “Cars Under the Stars” event will feature live music, a cash bar, good eats, and hundreds of sharp looking Shelby cars.
On Tuesday morning, those attending the event will meet at South Point Hotel for a tour of a revered private auto collection that features rare and important Shelbys, old and new. Later in the day the group will take part in a 150-mile Poker Run through the Valley of Fire. Tuesday night, Shelby will celebrate their new location with an official grand opening of the Shelby Heritage Center. Shelby American will host a dinner for all participants.
On Wednesday, April 16th, Vegas Bash participants will take part in the final day of the Shelby Bash. This will include breakfast, a Shelby American car show, and awards ceremony at the company’s new headquarters.
“Shelby American will be fully participating in all MCA 50th Celebration activities, including my personal favorite, open track time at Las Vegas Motor Speedway,” said Gary Patterson, VP of sales and factory driver for Shelby American. “Like in years past, our factory drivers will be happy to show enthusiasts on the track how to enter turns, hit the apex and give as many pointers as possible. There’s nothing like seeing a fellow gear head’s face light up when they realize how much more confident they are in their own car at high speeds.”

Is This The 50th Anniversary Mustang
Well - Is this the 50th anniversary Mustang? Several auto websites are reporting sighting of what is believed to be a lightly camouflaged special edition 50th anniversary Mustang out on a test drive just a few weeks before what most people are speculating will be the cars real debut at 2014 New York International Auto show April 18-27th at the Javits Center in NYC. The GT-spec ‘Stang features several retro styling cues to mark the occasion, including a unique grille with a horizontal chrome bar and corral around the Mustang logo, what appear to be rear quarter window louvers hidden under a black panel and forked-spoke wheels reminiscent of the ones seen on Edsel Ford II’s custom 1965 Mustang. The car is also seems to be sporting a set of big GT500 style Brembo brakes all around and a set of some type of rear quarter louvers. The car is also white, which Road & Track reports will be the only color offered on the 50th anniversary special edition, a nod to the original Mustang’s iconic Wimbledon White paint. The first Mustang was unveiled at the 1964 World’s Fair in New York on April 17th, a date that coincides perfectly with the second media preview day of this year’s New York Auto Show, and while one of the signature engines of the all-new 2015 Mustang is a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, the 5.0-liter badge on this possible 50th Anniversary car seems perfectly appropriate. While the car seems to be pretty "badgeless" in these photos, we are sure to see some special "50th Anniversary" emblems will be secured by the time the car is officailly revealed in a couple of weeks. (See our story "2015 Mustang On Top Of The Empire State Building" Here) We are wondering how many pieces of birthday cake this car launch will force us to eat in the month of April - there goes the diet !
