Ford are hoping to return to victory lane at Le Mans in 2016 where the Ford GT will compete in the LM GTE Pro class. This will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Ford GT40 win in 1966 by Bruce Mclaren and Chris Amon in their 7.0L V8 powered car.
This new race car is further proof point of Ford's innovation and it will based on the all-new Ford GT supercar unveiled back in January 2015 to rousing enthusiasm at the Detroit Auto Show. Both the production car and race car will arrive in 2016 to mark the 50th anniversary of Ford GT race cars placing 1-2-3 at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans. Ford went on to repeat its victory at Le Mans in 1967, 1968 and 1969.
The All-new Ford factory program will be to compete in both the FIA World Endurance Championship and TUDOR United Sports Car Championship with a two-team, four-car effort – operated by Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates.
Ford GT is THE company’s showcase for aerodynamics and lightweight carbon fiber construction, along with new twin-turbocharged Ford EcoBoost V6 – most powerful EcoBoost production engine ever.
John Hennessey is a name long associated with high performance muscle cars and he has now turned his attention to the 2015 S550 Ford Mustang GT. With the help of Jay Leno and the Hennessy team driver Brian Smith took their 5.0 liter screaming yellow 774Hp / 648lb-ft Mustang to the Continental tire proving grounds in Uvalde Texas to set a new top speed record.
Jay Leno used this as an opportunity to film the days events for an upcoming "Jay Leno's Garage", viewers will not be disappointed when they see the new Hennessey HPE750 Mustang set a new GPS verified top speed of 207.9 miles an hour down the straight and 0-60 times of 3.4 seconds and the quarter mile is covered easily in around 10.9 seconds.
The run was made on the 8.5 mile high speed oval at the Continental Tire Proving Grounds located in Uvalde, Texas – the same test track where John Hennessey test drove the company's HPE700 Mustang to a top speed of 195 mph back in February of this year. During both tests, speeds were validated with Racelogic's VBox 3i GPS data logging system.
"If at first you don't succeed, just add more horsepower and rpm and try again," said company founder and president, John Hennessey. "It's pretty cool to be able to offer an American muscle car that delivers supercar performance for under $70,000.
"I have a lot of seat time in the 2015 Mustang GT, since the Ford Performance Racing School has a fleet of them that we use for high-performance driver training," said Brian Smith, GM of Utah's Miller Motorsports Park and instructor at Ford Performance Racing School. "The Mustang GT is a fast, good-handling car right from the factory, but the Hennessey Mustang takes it to a completely new level. The Hennessey high-performance upgrades transform a very good GT car into a legitimate supercar."

Meet the Zombie 22 This is a Zombie attack of a different kind – See how this classic 1968 Ford Mustang was reborn with an electric motor and taken to the Texas Mile with dreams of breaking world records.
Some might think it a sacrilege to swap internal combustion from electric power in an iconic car like a 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback. But that's conventional thinking—and Mitch Medford and the team at Bloodshed Motors don't do conventional.
Medford has nursed an addiction to speed his entire life, and wanted to make sure his labor of love would devour records as well as rubber. Given his home base is in the Lone star State, the Texas Mile was a natural choice for him and his electrified band of gearheads to test their mettle.
This video from The Verge tells the story of their attempt to break the electric car record at the famed strip, and packs as much energy as the car's formidable batteries.
The verge is hands down one of the best at making these featured videos, there is always some special element they add that makes it so engaging, and the stories are unique
We don't want to ruin what's truly a compelling video, so watch to see how the Zombie 222 fares on the sunbaked Texas tarmac.
The Ford SVTP performance team held a news Media and press launch day on Tuesday where they released details about the new Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 engine and powertrain.
The one question on everyone's mind was how many ponies will this new Coyote variant pump out from the crank?
Well that question was answered and the how does 526 horsepower 429 ft/lb torque sound ( watch the video and hear how it sounds below)
That is 102 horsepower per liter, the all-new 5.2-liter V8 for Shelby GT350 Mustang and Shelby GT350R Mustang is the most powerful naturally aspirated road going engine in Ford history
The all-new Ford 5.2-liter flat-plane crankshaft V8 is an engine unique to Shelby GT350 and Shelby GT350R and has a redline of 8,250 rpm another first for Ford.
Here are a few more interesting facts:
The engine Blocks are described as second generation and made at the Windsor, Ontario plant.
• The valves are "much larger" and the cams provide 14mm of lift
• The throttle body measures 87mm - We will have to add a BBK Performance Power Plus Series throttle body and see how much more power it will make.
• The Cylinder heads will be 6% lighter than the 5.0 Coyote and will have hollow-stem intake valves and sodium-filled exhaust valves
• The camshafts will provide 14mm of lift
• The flat plane Crankshaft is rifle drilled
• Block is honed with torque plates
• Engine has a 12:1 compression and burns 93-octane fuel
• The rev limiter cuts fuel at 8,250 rpm
• The crankshaft is only 15 percent of the rotational inertia of the engine
• The oil pan and windage tray are all one piece
• Cylinder heads machined for reduced weight, 6-percent lighter than Coyote heads
• Intake manifold flows better than a Boss 302 intake
• The 87mm throttle body is the largest single-bore unit ever used by Ford - Our BBK Power Plus series should be able to add some additional ponies here!
• Exhaust manifolds are similar to those found on the 5.0 Coyote GT and appear to be restrictive - This again will be an area where the addition of a set of BBK performance long tube exhaust headers and a high flow mid pipe would be beneficial and help gaining additional horsepower and torque to the rear wheels of any of the Shelby GT350 Mustangs.
• The transmission will be a Tremec 3160 Six speed that will be bolted up behind a dual disc performance clutch
This Ford Mustang will also have the biggest brakes ever on a production Ford vehicle GT350 brakes have the largest rotors ever on a production Mustang.
The front brakes will feature 394-millimeter front rotors that are a floating type and are pin-driven to its aluminum hats to reduce heat transfer to the bearings. They are clamped by six-piston Brembo brake calipers.
The rear brakes will feature 380-millimeter rear rotors again a floating type that are pin-driven to its aluminum hats to reduce heat transfer to the bearings and clamped by 4 piston Brembo brake calipers.
DEARBORN, Mich., June 2, 2015 – Its crankshaft may be flat, but its power output is anything but “plane.” Ford announced today the most powerful naturally aspirated road-going engine in its history. The all-new Ford 5.2-liter flat-plane crankshaft V8 will produce 526 horsepower and 429 lb.-ft. of torque in Shelby GT350 Mustang and Shelby GT350R Mustang – an engine unique to the two models set to go on sale this fall.
“The Shelby GT350 program began with a clear objective – create the most balanced, nimble and exhilarating production Mustang yet,” said Jamal Hameedi, Ford Performance chief engineer. “Every change we made to this car was driven by the functional requirements of a powerful, responsive power plant. The high-revving, naturally aspirated 5.2-liter flat-plane V8 delivers on every target we set – high horsepower, broad torque curve, aggressive throttle response and light weight.” The new engine is also the highest-revving V8 in Ford history – with a redline of 8,250 rpm.
The result in the new 5.2-liter V8 – in addition to a uniquely exotic, delicious engine note – is 526 horsepower at 7,500 rpm and 429 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,750 rpm. Even more impressive is the track-tuned flexibility of the engine’s exceptionally wide power band. It produces 90 percent of peak torque from approximately 3,450 rpm through 7,000 rpm, and features a racetrack- friendly spread of nearly 3,000 rpm between its torque and horsepower peaks.
“A new Mustang as exceptional as the Shelby GT350 deserves an equally extraordinary engine,” said Dave Pericak, director, Ford Performance. “The all-new naturally aspirated 5.2- liter V8 perfectly fits the balanced dynamics of the Shelby GT350, and we believe this new engine will become a performance legend.”
