1996 – 2004 BBK 4.6 Mustang Throttle Intake
1996 – 2004 BBK 4.6 Mustang Throttle Intake
Gain power with a 1996 – 2004 BBK 4.6 Mustang Throttle Intake, which starts around $250.00. One of the most unique components in the Mustang aftermarket is the BBK Performance Throttle Intake kit. This throttle/intake combo fuses the throttle body with the intake elbow to improve performance on 4.6 Two-Valve modular Ford V8 engines found on 1996 to 2004 Mustangs and other Ford vehicles. Click the videos for a closer look.
This is an awesome component since it allows you to replace the restrictive factory intake parts with an attractive, high-flow induction unit. BBK Performance offers the Throttle Intake in 73 mm and 78 mm versions and with either a Charcoal Titanium Powdercoat finish or a polished finished for a few more dollars. Each kit comes with all the gaskets and hardware for a quick and simple installation on your Ford Mustang modular engine. Best of all, you can expect between a 12-15 horsepower increase at the wheels.
The 1996 – 2004 BBK 4.6 Mustang Throttle Intake increases the airflow to your intake manifold to increase low-rpm power for improved throttle response, as well as extra power in the upper rpm range. This equates to more fun around town and better performance on track. We recommend the 73 mm unit for mild mods, and the 78 mm unit for more serious combinations. This is a must-have item once you’ve added nitrous or forced induction.
In addition to great looks, BBK Performance assembles each Throttle Intake from strong 356 aluminum castings, which is then CNC-machined and fitted with high-quality mechanical parts such as die-stamped throttle linkages, double-sealed bearings and an O-ringed throttle shaft. Plus, all BBK throttle bodies are designed, manufactured and assembled in the USA. What you’ll notice is smooth throttle actuation and durability that meets or exceeds the original standards.
Increasing airflow to your engine is relatively easy way to increase horsepower and torque, and BBK offers many parts that allow you to find this power right in your driveway. For maximum flow, we recommend pairing your Throttle Intake with a Cold-Air Intake and exhaust headers with a high-flow exhaust. Additional mods common to 1996 – 2004 4.6 Mustangs are underdrive pulleys, a recalibrated factory computer using a hand-held flash tuner, and numerically higher rear end gear ratios.

Find 8-10 Easy Horsepower For Your Ford Mustang
Find 8-10 Easy Horsepower For Your Ford Mustang
If you’re looking to find 8-10 easy horsepower for your Ford Mustang, look no further than the affordable Brentech 70 mm throttle body designed to fit 1986-93 Fox-body Ford Mustangs with the venerable 5.0 Liter engine. Amazingly, BrothersPerformance.com sells this unit for right around $129.00 and the kit includes all the gaskets and hardware for a simple and quick install!
Airflow is critical to horsepower, and the stock 60 mm throttle body can only take you so far. Once you’ve added a cold-air intake, improved intake and exhaust headers, the stock throttle body will become a restriction, preventing your engine from reaching its potential. There are many options for throttle bodies, but none offer the performance, quality, and affordability of the Brentech 70mm throttle body kit.
Not some cheap off-short unit that is likely to fail over time, Brentech throttle bodies are 100-percent engineered and manufactured right here in America from top-grade 356 aluminum castings, which are then CNC-machined to a perfect finish. They also feature die-stamped throttle linkages, double-sealed bearings, and O-ringed throttle shafts. This equals smooth throttle actuation, durability, and great performance, not to mention perfect fitment and more horsepower and torque to the wheels.
How much power? We wanted to find out, so our Brothers Performance team recently installed and tested one on a 1990 5.0 LX Mustang. The high-mileage short-block was equipped with a Ford Racing Performance Parts Cobra intake, Air Flow Research (AFR) 165 Renegade heads, a .550-inch lift camshaft from Comp Cams, BBK long-tube headers and Magnaflow mufflers.
The LX spun the rollers on our Dynojet to a peak of 325 rwhp for a gain of 8 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque for a gain of 8 kb-ft. over the stock TB, but we saw higher gains below the peak. Not bad for about $129.00 and 30 minutes of our time.

2011-2014 Ford Mustang V6 Power Upgrades
2011-2014 Ford Mustang V6 Power Upgrades
If you’re looking for 2011-2014 Ford Mustang V6 Power Upgrades, you’ve come to the right place. Brothers Performance.com stocks a wide range of popular aftermarket components for all types of Mustangs, including the 305-horsepower 3.7-liter V6. While the V6 might not have the rumble of the 5.0 Coyote powerplant, rest assured it has plenty of grunt, and with the right parts, you can gain extra power and lower elapsed times.
Common upgrades for your V6 Ford Mustang are BBK cold-air kits, Throttle Bodies, short- and long-tube headers, X-pipes, mufflers, ring and pinions and hand-held flash tuners. Of course, you can go beyond the basics—we’ve seen power adder-equipped V6 Mustangs with blowers, turbos and nitrous that really fly. And the very same suspension kits and wheels and tires common to V8 Mustangs will bolt directly to your V6 Stang.
Like its 5.0 Coyote V8 big brother, the 3.7 liter V6 Ford Mustang responds nicely to basic bolt-on modifications, many of which you can do right in your driveway or home garage. Cold-air kits and larger-than-stock throttle bodies will feed your engine more air, and give you more horsepower in a matter of minutes, while BBK exhaust headers will expel those spent gasses, increasing output and creating a better-than-stock sound.
Couple those bolt-ons with a free-flowing X-pipe and performance mufflers to create a sound that’s perfect for you. And since the 2011-2014 V6 Mustang has an 8.8-inch rear, all the performance ratios from Ford Racing and other manufacturers will give your pony that final kick in the tail. BrothersPerformance.com offers 3.08, 3.27, 3.31, 3.55, 3.73 and 4.10 gears.
Of course, no late-model performance car is complete without a calibrated tune, and Brothers Performance.com offers a variety of hand-held flash tuners for the 3.7L V6. Installing a performance calibration is important whether you’ve modded your Mustang or if you simply want to maximize the stock combination. You can install a performance tune by plugging your tuner into the vehicle diagnostic port and make a variety of adjustments to properly calibrate your Mustang once you’ve installed a cold-air, throttle body, headers, or new gears.
The V6 Mustang is a great option for lots of enthusiasts. You can make them handle, accelerate, personalize them for great looks, you won’t pay as much for insurance and you’ll enjoy excellent fuel economy.
