Direct Fit Fuel Pumps Ford For Your Ford Mustang
If you’re planning to increase the horsepower of your pony, you’ll want to select one of Brothers Performance’s direct fit fuel pumps for your Ford Mustang. The factory fuel system on most 1986 to current Mustangs is adequate for minor bolt on modifications, but your engine will require additional fuel once you go for big power.
Brothers Performance offers a complete selection of fuel systems and components for V6, V8, SVT Cobra, Shelby, LX, GT and other Mustangs, including drop-in pumps, external pumps, injectors, filters, fuel rails, adjustable fuel regulators, lines, fittings and adapters, gauges, electronic fuel pump controllers, fuel cells, and complete fuel system kits. Many of these parts will work as stock replacement or as an upgrade. Click over to our fuel system pages to see your favorite brands, including Aeromotive, BBK, Edelbrock, Ford Racing, JMS, Auto Meter, Russell and many more.
An aftermarket high-volume fuel pump will allow your fuel system to keep up with the demands of your engine. As you increase airflow with a cold-air intake, large throttle body, aftermarket heads, cams and intake manifold, exhaust headers or power adders such as nitrous oxide, a supercharger or turbocharger, you’ll need to bump up the volume of fuel to maintain the proper air/fuel ratio. Failing to do this will cause your engine to run lean, which results in melted pistons and burned valves. You certainly don’t want to trash your expensive engine, so proper fueling is a must.
Brothers Performance offers BBK fuel-pumps designed to slip easily into the stock location and connect to the factory wiring with no modifications. In some cases you can simply upgrade to a larger-volume pump — other times you’ll need to add larger injectors (and a matching mass air meter). Higher horsepower combinations may require a dedicated fuel system with aftermarket fuel rails, larger lines and an internal or external fuel pump.
The Factory V8 Fox-body pump is designed to flow 88 liters per hour, which is barely adequate. Common direct-replacement pumps are sized at 110-, 155-, 190- and 255 liter per hour (lph). We recommend owners of newer models switch to our 300-lph fuel pump. Brothers’ sells kits for all late-model Mustangs, so check out our offerings and select the best pump and supporting parts for your late-model performance car or truck.
