BBK Varitune Mufflers Make The Perfect Sound

Have you ever wondered what it takes to get the perfect sound from your exhaust system? I mean a sound that’s dialed into your liking. Different engines create different levels of exhaust flow, so it’s important to get exhaust parts that fit your needs. There is so much that can affect the music coming from your tail pipes — and we’re not just talking about the volume of your exhaust. Power adders, increased compression, big cams, headers, X- and H-pipes, mufflers and tail pipes all play a role in the symphony of sound. The Adjustable Power Valve, developed and patented by BBK Performance, lets you change from having a mild three-chamber muffler to a rowdy single-chamber muffler in a matter of minutes. These mufflers are built with an internal cone that is adjusted in or out to direct exhaust flow through the muffler. And since you control the position of the cone, you manipulate sound and power.

It’s all done with the turn of a screw, located on the exterior of the muffler. Changes are made by simply loosening the locking nut and then running the adjuster in or out. With this set-up you can quickly and easily dial in the sound of your exhaust with the turn of a screw and we offer kits for the Mustang, Camaro, Challenger, plus trucks and a variety of other vehicles. You can even alter or off-set the Power Valves to remove any resonance or drone. This is important when you change rear gears or transmission ratios.

BBK Varitune Mufflers are available in a variety of sizes so there’s a combination for virtually any American performance car, including Ford Mustang, Dodge Challenger, Dodge Charger, Chevrolet Camaro, and Corvette to name a few. To fit your budget, Varitune mufflers are available in aluminized or stainless steel in 2.5-, 2.75-, and 3.0-inch diameters, and are offered in various offsets to fit most aftermarket and OEM applications, including cars and trucks. Currently, Varitune mufflers do not fit the 1999-2004 Ford Mustang Cobra, and with many options for fitment, be sure to research and select the correct diameter and offset for your specific application.

Joey Logano Wins Daytona 500 And Ford Sweeps The Weekend

The Blue Oval was strong in Daytona, Florida this past weekend as Joey Logano scored big winning his first NASCAR Daytona 500 in his Shell/Pennzoil-backed Roger Penske-owned #22 Ford Fusion. Just a day earlier, Ryan Reed drove his Roush Fenway Ford Mustang to victory in the NASCAR Xfinity series race at the famous Superspeedway (located just 20 minutes from Brothers Performance) and Friday night, the young Tyler Reddick scored a win in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in his Ford F-150 owned by Brad Keselowski. Yes, Joey Logano Wins Daytona 500 And Ford Sweeps The Weekend.

“What an amazing moment. Wow. To win this race is just amazing,” exclaimed Logano. “I have the best team on pit road for sure. These guys are awesome. My spotter did a great job giving me the information I need to get our front and stay out front before that last caution and be able to have a good restart there at the end. I knew I had the 15 behind me and Clint Bowyer was the best pusher I could find out there and was able to push me to the lead and I knew I wanted the outside to make sure he was behind me to work up there again.”

As with most of the restrictor-plate races, the field was packed tight in the closing laps, as Logono’s bright yellow Ford Fusion led the charging pack. A late-race caution caused a restart with just three laps to go. Logano selected the outside lane (the leader can restart from the inside or the outside), which placed him in front of Clint Bowyer. Bowyer gave Logano a shove on “Green” and Logano cleared the field. Clearing the field on a big track isn’t always a good thing, since the drafting cars can often slingshot past a lone car. But the field never got the chance. Logano's competitors fanned out three-wide, and the Ford expanded the gap. Finally, the leaders took the “White” flag signaling one lap to go, but before they could complete the lap, caution flew as Jeff Gordon was hit and spun out, securing the win for Ford and Joey Logano.

“You see cars, a lot of cars and I saw that we were single file the first three cars and I knew that was a good thing because it would be harder for them to form a run,” said the 24-year old Logano. “Then I saw them crash in the mirror, but I had a distance to go and I thought that was good because it was still going to be harder for them to catch up without as many cars in the pack. Then the caution came out anyway. That feeling of winning the Daytona 500, I can’t explain how cool this is. I said in an interview that this was our worst race track last year and we worked really hard to figure out how we could get better at it and all the hard work got us the win today.”

- Logano’s win in the Daytona 500 was the 14th overall for Ford in “The Great American Race.”
- First time Ford has swept all of NASCAR’s top three touring divisions in the same weekend since last August at Bristol Motor Speedway.
- Ford remains undefeated at Daytona International Speedway in 2015, running its streak to four with today’s win. In addition to winning the NASCAR Camping World Truck and NASCAR XFINITY Series races this weekend, Ford also won the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona last month.
- In addition, this is the first time Ford has swept the NASCAR Camping World Truck, NASCAR XFINITY and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races during Speedweeks.
- Reed’s win marks Ford’s 220^th NASCAR XFINITY Series victory and the first for Roush Fenway Racing at Daytona International Speedway.
- Reed is the 37^th different driver to win a NASCAR XFINITY Series race with Ford and the first since his teammate, Chris Buescher, did it last year at Mid-Ohio.

Mustang enthusiasts are always on the hunt for horsepower and BrothersPerformance.com is your one-stop source for all your performance needs. To show you some of the great parts we offer, our team recently did a 1996 – 2004 Ford Mustang BBK 73mm Throttle Intake test on a 2003 Mustang GT.

BBK’s 73mm Throttle Intake (Part Number 17801), sells for right around $250.00 and combines a 73mm Throttle Body with a high-flow Upper Intake Plenum into one sweet-looking unit that is easy to install and will outflow the stock throttle body and upper plenum on any 1996 to 2004 Mustang with the 4.6 liter V8 engine. It’s common to see as much as 12 to 15 horsepower gained at the wheels, but we wanted to see it with our own eyes.

The BBK Performance Mustang Throttle Intake is designed and manufactured here in the USA and will create quicker throttle response and better acceleration. All BBK Performance Power Plus throttle bodies are CNC-machined from high-quality 356 aluminum castings to ensure perfect OEM quality and fit every time. This throttle body is also a direct replacement, and the kit includes all the necessary gaskets and instructions for a quick and easy installation. Not only is the 73mm throttle bore larger than stock, but the inlet elbow features smoothed internal radius on the short and large turn, plus volume is increased. Find Easy Power For Your Ford Mustang With Nitrous

Are you looking for quick and easy mods that will give you big results? If so, you can find easy horsepower for your Ford Mustang with nitrous. While nitrous oxide sounds like some magical, mystical power adder, it’s really not that complicated. Nitrous oxide allows you to add extra oxygen to the combustion process, and when matched with the correct amount of fuel, big power results. To prove our point, we recently installed an affordable kit from ZEX (Part Number 82023) on a mildly modified 1998 SVT Cobra. This kit installed in a few hours and is priced right around $599.99.

Nitrous Oxide (N2O) is stored in a nitrous bottle, which can be mounted easily in the trunk of a vehicle. Lines are run under the car, from the tank to a solenoid that’s mounted under the hood. The solenoid connects to the engine’s induction system and feeds the juice to the engine. There are a handful of nitrous system designs, from basic kits to multi-stage systems used for racing. Common terms you’ll hear are “Wet” and “Dry” systems.

A Dry system simply sprays nitrous only, a “Wet” system supplys nitrous and additional fuel to the engine. In addition, nitrous can be injected into the engine either before the throttle body (or just under the carburetor), or directly in the individual runners in the intake manifold (direct-port nitrous injection). The type of kit you select depends on the horsepower level you're trying to reach. In fact, some systems can be completely hidden, while others are the show-piece of the induction system.

The Zex kit, seen in the video, is a universal wet system designed to fit any 1986 to 2004 V8 Mustang. There is one nitrous line feeding the nitrous nozzle, and a single fuel line that connects between the nozzle and the fuel rail. Having the ability to tap into the fuel rail (using the Schrader valve) makes things quick and easy (especially considering all the lines and fittings are included in the kit). This kit designed to increase output on most EFI Mustangs by 75 – 125 horsepower. Brothers Performance does offer higher-performance kits from Zex and many other manufacturers. And we offer nitrous bottle filling at our location in Deland, Florida.

Another benefit of the ZEX kit is the unique Nitrous Management Unit, which contains and controls the nitrous solenoid. It uses a TPS (throttle position sensor) signal for activation, plus, the kit contains everything you’ll need, including an assortment of jets for tuning.
