The All New 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302, like most other new Ford vehicles, comes with a factory three-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and a five-year, 60,000-mile power train warranty. It also comes with what they call a Track Key, which is intended for off road “Race Use” Only. The Track key adds Trac Mode power train control software to the car for track use, providing full race calibration and two-stage launch control in addition to stock calibration, without compromising factory warranty* It uses a dual-path power train control module (PCM), and the TracKey software is installed after the vehicle is purchased and accessed only by the specially programmed vehicle Track key. No aftermarket chips or permanent modifications are made when TracKey is used, so it allows owners to return to the stock setting by starting the car with a regular key
Now word has it that some fine print reads” installing the TracKey on your new Boss may void your power train warranty”. Word has it that the Ford TracKey feature available on the Ford Mustang Boss 302 will come with some interesting fine print. According to Mustangs Daily, owners who opt to have TracKey installed at their local Ford dealer will have to endure a three-year, 36,000-mile powertrain warranty. That's noticeably shorter than the five-year, 60,000-mile warranty that comes standard on the Mustang Boss 302. Of course, this might actually be seen as a benefit to a lot of TracKey purchasers, because the TracKey is specifically intended for track use. Having a warranty for a tracked car is well outside the norm--many warranties specifically exclude such use. It's worth noting, too, that the fine print on the Laguna Seca package says it "may" void the vehicle's warranty, and that it must be installed by the customer.
In addition, owners who decide to bolt on any extra performance modifications in conjunction with TracKey will see their warranty completely voided. Ford says that aftermarket modifications could cause severe engine damage.
Despite the shortened warranty, Ford doesn't expect any reliability issues with TracKey. The company says that its engineers have done all of the necessary homework on the system. From the sound of things, Ford is simply protecting itself from abusive owners who may seek to take advantage of a race car with a warranty. We'll learn more once Ford officially debuts TracKey at SEMA in Las Vegas in a few weeks.

Hennessey Boss 302 Runs 11.9 in 1/4 Mile & 3.9 Seconds 0-60
To prove the performance potential of the mid-grade HPE650 package, Hennessey took the car to the drag strip and recorded some impressive times: zero-to-sixty mph in 3.9 seconds and a quarter mile run in 11.9 seconds at 124 mph.
To achieve those numbers, the HPE650 package includes a roots-type TVS2300 supercharger, a high-flow breathing system and Hennessey’s HPE engine-management calibration. The end result is 650 horsepower (up from 444 in the standard Boss), while the package will lighten one’s wallet to the tune of $15,995 with installation.
Hennessey is also offering a more financially-friendly starter kit, the HPE490, which raises the horsepower tally to 492 via cold-air induction, performance headers, a high-flow exhaust and the company’s engine-management calibration. Price is $3,995 if you’re brave enough to break out the tools and do it yourself, or $5,495 fully installed.
The truly power hungry should look into the HPE700, which makes a cool 700 horsepower. This range-topping package gets the same supercharger as the HPE650 with a pulley upgrade, an intercooler, a high-flow breathing system, a fuel-system upgrade, a strut tower brace and side exhaust. A $19,995 price tag gets you installation and proof that all the ponies are present and accounted for through dyno tuning.
Hennessey provides a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty on the two more potent upgrades (confusingly, the HPE490 only gets 1 year/12,000 mile coverage). All the performance extras imaginable, from heavy duty clutches to carbon fiber front splitters, are available as extras.

Galpin Autosports To Auction 429 Boss Mustang To Benefit St Judes Childrens Hospital
Our Friends at Galpin Auto Sports, also known as GAS, has been building some of the industry’s wildest Ford Mustangs since it opened shop, we have seen them personally and they are amazing. The tuner’s newest project is a collaboration with specialty manufacturer SPX, and will be a 1969 Mustang Boss 429-inspired ‘Stang featuring 700-hp, Candy Apple Red Pearl paint, a custom one-off metal widebody and Forgiato three-piece wheels. The completed project will be auctioned off at the 2012 Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona with the proceeds benefiting St. Jude Hospital to fight cancer. With everything going towards a good cause, the fortunate one to win the Mustang will get themselves one hell of a machine. The 5.0L V8 will be a whole new monster thanks to Ford Racing’s supercharger, camshafts from Comp Cams and a Bassani exhaust system. All 700-hp will feel nice and snappy through the transmission thanks to a Hurst short-throw shifter while the Eibach lowering springs give the Mustang better handling and a nicer stance. Speaking of stance, GAS will be outfitting the one-off custom with a staggered set of 21-inch (front) and 22-inch (rear) Forgiato wheels, wrapped with Pirelli P-Zero rubber. Peeking behind each custom three-piece wheel will be a set of Wilwood 14-inch rotors, with 6-piston calipers in the front and 4-piston calipers in the rear.On the outside, the Candy Apple Red Pearl PPG paint will be accented by the previously mentioned one-off metal widebody. A Roush billet aluminum grille will give the front end a bolder look while the original 1969 Boss 429 hood scoop pays homage to a true classic.
