Tech Notes: Intake Manifold Selection
With the arrival of two more manifold entries from Edelbrock, it's more important now than ever to put some thought into this product purchase. The main thing to look at is cylinder head and camshaft choice.
If your Mustang is utilizing the factory cam and head combo, then the Edelbrock Performer or SVO Cobra Manifold will be the best candidate. However, if your Mustang is equipped with Edelbrock or TFS Aluminum Heads and a mild cam such as the Crane 2040 or SVO E303, then the new Performer rpm or SVO GT-40 intake would be most recommended. If serious mid and top end rpm power is your thing, and you have the compression or supercharging to match, then Edelbrock's new Victor 5.0 Manifold should do the trick.
