About Exhaust, Mufflers & Tips
Get that deep rumble and tuned exhaust sound you have always wanted with one of our great selections of American aftermarket exhaust system! Performance exhaust systems will add that aggressive tone and also offer an increase in horsepower and torque. Brothers Performance carries all the exhaust performance parts you need for your exhaust system including smooth larger mandrel bent tube X-pipe, H-pipe, Shorty exhaust headers, Full Length or Long Tube headers, axle back exhaust system, cat back exhaust system, mufflers and muffler tips. Some Exhaust systems offered by manufacturers such as BBK, Borla, JBA, Flowmaster, and Magnaflow are offered in stainless steel with full lifetime warranty
Exhaust Headers
Headers are essentially the first part of your vehicles exhaust system, headers collect the exhaust gasses then direct the gasses to the exhaust pipes. Ideally the quicker you get the air into your engine and the exhaust out is the more performance you will gain. Most OEM exhaust headers are very restrictive and cause back pressure and not allowing an even flow of exhaust gasses. Aftermarket Performance Headers are available in shorty unequal length, short equal length, tuned length and also in long tube/full length header versions. They feature large mandrel bent tubing which keeps the diameter consistant throughout the bends of the headers allowing an even smooth high exhaust flow to the collectors where they attach to the exhaust system. Companies such as BBK Performance offer exhaust headers with chrome, silver ceramic or stainless steel finishes and they are preferred by many enthusiasts due to their high quality great fit, value and race proven results.
Cat Back Exhaust System
One of the most popular aftermarket performance products is the direct fit bolt on cat back exhaust system. These exhaust system replace everything from the catalytic converters back to the muffler exit tailpipes. A cat back exhaust system offers high flow great sounding mufflers with larger diameter mandrel bent tubing and are designed to give you optimum exhaust flow to increase horsepower and torque across the whole RPM range. Most exhaust systems offer larger stainless steel tips for great looks and some manufacturers such as Borla and Magnaflow manufacturers their exhaust system entirely from stainless steel with a lifetime warranty.
X-Pipe, H-Pipe, and Mid Pipes
X-pipe and H-pipes are located between the exhaust headers and the cat back exhaust system. Mid pipe tubing is made from larger diameter 2 ½ inch or 2 ¾ inch fully mandrel bent for unrestrictive flow and some manufacturers such as Magnaflow offer them in stainless steel. X-pipe and H-pipes are available with catalytic converters for street use and also in off road versions for race track use. Each pipe that is attached to a header has to have the exhaust pressure equalized before it enters the cat back to improve the airflow. To achieve this, the pipes are connected with either a single tube (H) or a X center section. The different paths that the exhaust flows through will result in more performance and a better sounding exhaust. To achieve maximum horsepower at high RPM, racers favor the use of an X-pipe. True American street enthusiasts often choose a H-pipe to get a cleaner rumbling sound. Performance X-pipe and H-Pipes have their minor differences but each exhaust mid pipe both offer big increases in performance. Dyno results have shown increases of up to 20 horsepower by swapping out your restrictive factory exhaust pipe with one of these high flow H-Pipes or X-pipe. |
